mrissa's pear crisp was successful, so here it is. I wanted it to be a) Pasadic, and b) Reminiscent of charoses (a traditional item on the Seder plate, made of chopped apples, nuts, and wine), so I made the following changes:
- substituted 6 MacIntosh apples for the pears
- sploshed some red wine over the apples after arrangnig them in the pan
- substituted 1c matzo meal for the oats
- used only 1 stick of butter (1/2 c) instead of two because I'd already used a whole stick in the chocolate torte and another in the Potatoes Anna, and I'd have felt bad if anyone left the table and hed a heart attack. I don't think that change was noticeable.
It came out very tasty. Next time I'll either use bigger apples or use one more of them, because I'd have liked a higher apples-to-topping ratio (Mris's pears must have been bigger) but that's about the only change I'd make.
