my brain is generating randomness
Nov. 12th, 2007 02:20 pmRice porridge is actually pretty tasty.
I wish Ted would be a bit less generous with his viruses. Now this one has me staring at my screen, zoning out every few minutes.
It costs fifteen dollars to buy a Coke from a vending machine here. (Just about $.50 US, but it sounds like a lot more.) The biggest denomination of money in common use is NT$1000. Sometimes the purchase price outweighs the purchase.
I was reading a fashion magazine yesterday and suddenly realized that a lot of the people who end up in it (TV and movie actors, high-profile musicians, models, designers) must have incredibly boring lives. I conclude this from the number of them who describe themselves as "obsessed" with ... a lipstick, a nail polish, a hair color, whatever. The people I know get obsessed with a book, a song, an album, a genre, a new craft, a style of art, an idea, a sport, having a child, even a video game - but it's always something with content.
My brain is mush. I wonder if it's too soon to take more cold meds? Unfortunately the dirctions on this sutff (Panadol) are all in Chinese, but I asked the HR person to translate (this was right after we got her to show u what to buy and where to buy it; the Panadol has some English saying what it's for but only on one one and that wasn't the side on display) and I think it was every 4-6 hours.
As a belated Veterans' Day remembrance, here's actual footage from 1944 of the occupation and liberation of Eindhoven, the city where we've spent the past year. They re-enact the liberation procession every year; I wrote about that ceremony here.
