Since we had Friday off we went to see the new Wolverine movie. It was heavy on the gratuitous half-naked shots of Hugh Jackman, not that I'm complaining! (This may be the first movie I can remember since Top Gun that has more eye-candy for me than for Ted.) Anyway, thinking about it left me bemused at local tastes; many straight women here prefer unmuscled men, to the point of encouraging their husbands / boyfriends not to work out. I kept thinking, if I wanted a guy shaped like a girl, wouldn't I just be gay?

Somehow it's easier for me to imagination appreciating a wider range of shapes (and being attracted to men and women, including ones who prefer a gender-bending style - which in fact I am aesthetically, if not sexually) than to imagine being attracted to only skinny men. De gustibus, I guess.

Um, most women aren't actually shaped like non-muscular men. And I've never heard of a lesbian who was a lesbian because she preferred non-muscular men. :-/

You know, I knew I'd be sorry about saying that but I couldn't resist the cheap throwaway line. You'd think I'd know better because I *always* end up regretting it. (I really did end up thinking "why would you want skin and bones when you could have that?", even knowing at the time that tastes do vary, including cultural norm-tastes.)
