dichroic: (looking down)
[personal profile] dichroic
1. With never a deathwish, I have flung my body out of an airplane, off of a mountain, off of a bridge, a cliff, a ledge, a beam.
I guess it's not surprising that no one guessed this. Y'all are hard to impress.
2. I have never been pregnant nor ever seriously thought I was.
Actually true - I've never gotten farther than "You don't suppose .... nahhh." There's a reason I donate regularly to Planned Parenthood.
3. I have never broken a bone.
True, but I do appreciate [livejournal.com profile] wordweaverlynn's knocking on wood for me.
4. I have slept on each of the seven continents.
bingbingbing! [livejournal.com profile] tjekanefir guessed right but for the wrong reasons. I have slept on Artactica, in a sleeping bag and bivy sack, no less. I've been to all seven continents, but have not actually slept on Africa - just on a cruise ship in the boundary waters. We did a day trip to Cairo and Giza. We got to look at the port in Tripoli all day but Americans were not allowed off the boat. (I don't think I napped that day, so any sleeping woul dhave been further offshore on the way back to Italy.)
5. I have flown simulators - no games, but the real ones NASA, the military, and airlines use to train their pilots - of the Space Shuttle, the Airbus A320, the A-10, the F-16, ad the C-130.
True, all but the A320 due to spending 7 years working for one of the biggest companies in the field.
6. With all the current fuss over national ID for US citizens, it amuses me to remember how I got my Social Security number. These days babies get them at birth, standard issue; when I was 9 or so a neighbor was taking his daughter to get one and since I was there playing with her, they decided to take me along too. I have no idea if anyone ever got my parents' signature.
True - but I bet if I trot this one out in 30 years, no one will belileve it. Sad.
7. I (well, Rudder and I) currently own 1623 books. Some consider a ridiculous number of books, some consider it a mere pittance.
True, according to Readerware - though we have a few less titles than that, due to duplicates and multi-volume books. Will not be true a week or so from now, probably.
8. My entire yarn stash fits into one (1) plastic container approx 2' to its longest side. Many knitters will be instantly sure this is the false statement.
True. Can't remember if there are knitters on my flist here.
9. I have lived in 8 or 9 zip / post codes in my life: one for the first half of my life, the others since then.
True - in fact my parents are still in that same house.
10. There are subjects (even ones on which I have some knowledge) on which I hold no opinion.
True; in some cases I don't feel I have enough knowledge, in some I don't care enough, in some the alternatives are equally valid, and in some I think more than factual knowledge is needed to have a good opinion,.
