another best places list
May. 1st, 2007 01:31 pmJust for the contrast, here's National Geographic's list of 50 "Places of a Lifetime". They say "50 greatest places of a lifetime. These are destinations we believe no curious traveler should miss." It's a little nonspecific, unfortunately - I mean, they list Paris rather than the Eiffel Tower. Still, it's heavier on the scenery and lighter on the Disney. It's stilll not a perfect list; I'd like more specifics and actually I do think at least one of the Disney parks really ought to be on a "places to see" list, just not all of them. I would include the 1000 Places to See Before You Die - actually I did start a list of that for our travel blog - but it gets very logn and she has a habit of sneaking a lot of things under one heading so it gets confusing to list.
Same rules: ones I've been to are bolded, ones I want or expect to visit are in italics. This time, ones like New York or Paris, where I've been there but need to go back because there's so much ore to see, are in bold italics. Section Titles are underlined.
