dichroicThere was a quiz going around recently, in which you answered questions and were then told what kind of geek you were - literary, drama, gamer, whatever.
I have a better way to do that - not faster, certainly, but maybe more fun. You just read Mike Ford's From the End of the Twentieth Century. Make careful notes of the points where you get a littel geeky, and your type of geekery should become immediately obvious. For me it was two places: the line "Eh, he wor a wonderly fine candle," in the tale of the railroad 'bo who must stay on Earth because he has tales to retell (including the one which originated that line), and in the story of the very first Space Shuttle launch, with Crippen and Young twenty six years ago now. In that case, I tear up not so much because I know what has happened since, as because I know what has not happened. And how very much was planned and expected that has not happened.
So obviously, I'm a literary geek and a space geek. Easy, see?
