Fred Eaglesmith’s (lack of) math skills always bother me. In his song “Lucille”, if the guy singing aged from 19 to 45, then Lucille, who was 50 at the beginning of the song, is only 76 at the end. It’s not unreasonable that she’s in a wheelchair – that can happen at any age – but most people I know in their mid-70s don’t spend their days sitting around an old-age home. Heck, some of them are still rowing in races or writing books or working for a living.
