(no subject)
Oct. 14th, 2005 03:26 pmI've been thinking about writing here more often or even moving most of my posts here. The downside to that is that I love having my very own domain, and that I'm up to 1900 entries (exactly) and have no desire to move them again. The advantage to being here is that LiveJournal's comment notification (not just to the author of the post but to other commenters as well) fosters conversation that just doesn't happen otherwise unless you have the sort of traffic levels that make it worth people's while to come back to see if someone has responded. Maybe I'll just put short posts here. I don't know.
Anyway, I also wanted to post here to say I have YARN and I think I know what to do with it. It's a silver-blue worsted-weight wool I picked up last week at Southwest Trading Company's dock sale, and I have 8 balls at 144 yards each. If I knit it at a relatively loose gauge I should have enough to make Banff, except that I plan to make a deep V-neck, low enough to show off the shirt underneath, instead of the stand-up turtleneck. I want it to be a grab-and-throw-on-top sort of thing, which is silly given the amount of fleece I have but oh well. This will be dressier anyway.
The even sillier part is that one reason I picked the Banff pattern is that for some reason this yarn just makes me think of flared sleeves. I had thought of adapting its sleeves and proportion into a top-down raglan, but have decided to make it in pieces instead after considering how weighty all that sweater would be to knit at once.
