dichroic | the songs

I just did a little web research to figure out what some of the songs are that I keep hearing. Apparently the one that goes to the tune of Auld Lang Syne is “Wij houden van oranje” (We love orange).

And I was right – they do really sing “You’ll Never Walk Alone“, actually with the original lyrics.

“Hup Holland Hup” not only gets sung, it’s all over T-shirts and banners. Another I hear a lot though more as a cheer than a sustained song is “Ole ole ole“. (That is, mostly I just hear the ole ole ole ole ole ole part!).

If all goes well they’ll be singing Queen’s “We Are the Champions” but I guess everyone does that – I first heard it associated with a sorts event in 1980 when the Phillies won the World Series.

But there’s still one I can’t find, the liveliest and most popular of all – I may just have to go ask a random stranger (or ask tomorrow at work).
