The third-grade teacher I didn't have is an impressive person. All the kids who did have her loved her, and still do - she's pretty active on Facebook, and the more I see of her there, the more I'm wishing I'd been in her class.
She's participating in a walk to raise money to fight ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease. She'll walk in Philadelphia, but apparently there are walks at over a hundred locations in the US - the main website is here.
My mom has ulcerative colitis and it definitely impacted the whole family as well as herself. There's at least one person on my f-list with Crohn's, and there are a lot of Ashkenazic Jews - we're more at risk for those diseases - so there may well be others with one of them or who love people who have one of them. So I'm just posting in case there's someone out there who would be interested in walking (or donating) who didn't know about this.
