11:00 PM: I decide not to turn on the dehumidifer we’ve been using, out of curiosity to see if it really makes that big a difference to the A/C.
4:15 AM: I wake up briefly, notice the air conditioner is dripping quite a lot of condensation into its drip pan, and it sounds like its dripping into water rather than into an empty pan, hope sleepily that everything is OK
4:30 AM: realize everything is not OK when water starts running out of the ceiling. Run and get a bucket, and turn off the A/C. Then get a second bucket when it starts leaking at the other end of the ceiling vent a foot away.

Why does this shit always happen when Ted’s away?
If I’m really lucky the pipes aren’t fully blocked and after I siphon out the pan I can keep using it with the dehumidifer even before the repairman comes on (hopefully) Monday.

Tomorrow’s schedule is now: wake at 7AM, clear away a few things in prep for the cleaning people at 8, get their help to siphon out the pan before I have to leae at 9 for dragon-boat practice, call the apartment agent as soon as it’s late enough on a Sunday morning. Yeesh. Meanwhile it’s 5AM and I couldn’t sleep for worry and annoyance so I’m hoping blogging the situation is cathartic enough to help me grab a little more sleep.
