By the way, I know there are a lot of folkies on my flist. If you get a chance take a look at Vanity Fair magazine (the one I saw was in the Amsterdam airport, so it may be either the October or the November issue). There's a portfolio of photos of folk musicians by Annie Leibovitz. I have a few qiubbles with the choices: she doesn't have some of the ones I wish she had,; her pick of the up-and-comers includes (only) people I've never heard of; and even of the old greats she misses out on the ones who never made it out of the folk circuit onto the pop charts (hello, Dave van Ronk? McGarrigles?). But no magazine spread cold cover all the ones I'd want to see, and there are gorgeous shots of some people whose songs I love. There's also an online article here.
