AKICILJ: a brief shopping question
Feb. 7th, 2013 06:29 pmWhen you go through Dutch museums and look at the old still-lifes, over and over from artist after artist, you see the same glass, like the one in this painting. (They’re from the days before forks; those bumps on the thick stem were to provide more traction for greasy fingers.)
Since we do need to get glasses and dishes for the new house, Ted was saying that it would be fun to get ones like that. Anyone have any idea where I could find reproductions? I checked the Rijksmusem, but there’s no shop on their webpage.

I am amused to discover that those appear to match an authentic Rennaissance design principle! I have a set, and despite the kitsch, they are a really practical design to drink from.)
