dichroic: (oar asterisk)

I’m getting really tired of being on the casualty list. First there were allergies for a week or so in February. Then I was better for a week, then I got the Cough that Wouldn’t Die. I was finally at the tail end of that when we got to the US in mid-April, then pulled this rib muscle. That’s still with me, and now I have a virulent attack of hay fever. Bad combination – it hurts when I cough or sneeze, and I cough and sneeze a lot. I never had allergies at all as a kid, and only had the barest touch until recently so it is not making me happy to have them advancing with age.

In fact, I hadn’t really planned age turning me into Snow Whitehair and all seven of her dwarfs: Sneezy, Snotty, Achy, Sleepy, Groggy, Chubby, and of course Grumpy. (OK, I’m exaggerating. I only have a few white hairs so far.)

At least it doesn’t hurt when I row, though. I went out in a single yesterday, and aside from having to stop to blow my nose annoyingly often, it went pretty well. The only other problem was that apparently at some point I rowed through a large spiderweb – I had some filaments of webbing going from my rigger to my boat, which isn’t a problem; a couple trailing from my knuckles, which was mildly annoying because it tickled; and one handing down from my hat onto my nose, making me want to sneeze. That one was a problem!

I’ve nearly come to the end of my current knitting project – just doing the edging now, though this will take a while. Tomorrow is knitting night, so assuming I’m not too sneezy to go, I should get a lot done there. Then I get to start the Ten-Stitch Baby Blanket for my niebling-to-be. (Note: that’s a Ravelry link but it works even if you aren’t a member of Ravelry.) That one looks like fun to knit, though I might not think so after I’ve been knitting ten stitches back and forth for a month or two!
