Finally - Ted got to review his contract today. After talking to him I went and told my boss he ought to lay me off. He was more surprised than he ought to have been. I don't give more than 30% odds that the layoff will happen, but the severance pay is only a nice bonus, not terribly necessary. If it doesn't happen I will give notice somewhere in the mid-September - October range, take at least a couple of weeks off, deal with all the moving and begin work in Eindhoven, in the Netherlands, November 1.

Other good news is that since they changed Ted from a short to a long-term contract we get to take 30 kg of stuff air freight and a 20' container to be shipped via, well, shipping (4-6 weeks). I will of course leave a lot of books in storage, but this is enough space that decisions won't be painful.
