dichroic: (looking down)
I'm starting to see light at the end of Rudder's sweater - both sleeves done and maybe a foot and a half of the body to go, just plain stockinette with ribbing at the bottom, then the neck to pick up and rib.

The next big project (as opposed to socks or gloves - I like to have a big home and a small portable project going) will be a shawl for me. I did that Clapotis in a rainbowy Noro Silk Garden. I keep it at work, but I want another that will go with reds. I have a soft silk/angora blend yarn in a pretty dark red for this. It needs to be a pattern that won't be totally boring but that doesn't require so much attention that I can't read while knitting. (I multitask fairly well, especially with the help of stitch markers I can feel so I know when to pay attention.) Clapotis was a lot of fun to knit, but I'm a little reluctant to do the same pattern twice. On the other hand, the Silk Garden stuck to itself so that the dropped stitches had to be pulled apart - I never had the fun of seeing them ladder down. Also, importantly, it has to be a pretty pattern, because life is too short and knitting is too slow to make something ugly.
