geographical meme
Oct. 14th, 2005 06:50 pmThis is kind of cool - I picked this meme up from
bafleyanne. Actually, Rudder and I just had a whole argument over the proper way to figure this, but I'm going to go strictly by latitude and longitude, rather than (his way) by distance traveled from home in a particular direction.
What are the furthest points North, South, East and West you have visited?
North: Fairbanks, Alaska: 64 51N
South: Antarctic Peninsula 65 13S (according to the trip log they sent us)
East: Auckland, New Zealand: 175 0E
West: Denali, Alaska: 152 0W
These four points can be used to define a rectangle (well, in more-or-less spherical geometry they do) whose borders lie along the lines of latitude and longitude you have identified. What's at the centre of this region? Have you been there?
Okandja, Gabon. Africa is the one continent I haven't visited.
Where is the nearest place to the centre you have visited?
Eindhoven, Netherlands. Not very near.
