The Dutch just brought the score up to 3-1 with about 15 minutes to go – that’s a HUGE lead in a soccer game! I should make a recording just so y’all could hear the noise level out my window. Funny, though: I can see a bit of the main market square from here (it’s 10PM, but we’re so far north that it’s still not dark yet), and the crowd is a bit unusual: all in bright orange and sitting very, very still. They’re all glued to the giant TV screen there int he square (except, presumably, for occasional voyages through the crowd to the beer tent.

I think I’m kind of glad the US team didn’t get to play the Dutch, after all – sad to say it, but even with the little I know about soccer I can see the US team wasn’t in their league. It’s the teamwork, mostly – the Dutch team has an amazing ability to pass the ball right to where their teammate is, whereas the US team kept passing it to the middle of nowhere.

It’s bedtime, but I want to see the end of the game, and I’m pretty sure I could hear all the horns and shouting even with the bedroom windows closed, anyway. And with earplugs in. Also, work at home day tomorrow, yay!
