May. 18th, 2005 09:24 amI read something yesterday - actually I read a lot of things yesterday, which is the problem. I think this was on LJ, probably in someone's comments, and I haven't been able to find it again. It was about someone's theory that the decrease in violent crime since the 1990s is largely a result of the legalization of abortion in 1971.
Last night I came across a book called Freakonomics: A Rogue Economist Explains Everything, and the description mentionedseveral questions answered in the book, including "What kind of impact did Roe v. Wade have on violent crime?", not to mention "What do schoolteachers and sumo wrestlers have in common?" Does anyone out there know a) where I might have read the original comment, and b) if this book is indeed the one the commenter was talking about?
